Listening Circle Update February 26, 2024
February 10, 2024
Curiko is developing a "no show" policy. This will apply to situations where a host or participant does not show up to an experience and inform how Curiko will respond. We want to engage community members in this process as part of our co-governance model of collective decision making.
The 4 step process for developing the "no show" policy will be:
- Listening circle:
- We have held several rounds of listening circles. We invited anyone in the community to come and share their experience about having been stood up and about not showing up themselves. We practiced listening and empathizing with each other.
- Brainstorming session:
- We are inviting anyone in the community to play a board game with us! The game will help us come up with and sort ideas about what we want to do when people don’t show up to experiences.
- Online poll:
- We are inviting anyone in the community to give feedback to the different options that we will come up with at our brainstorming session.
- Voting day
- Let’s vote for our favourite policy!
We have tried out listening circles. Here is the update!
We had over 20 people attend the online and in-person listening circles. We had hosts, moderators, team members, and participants join.
The Curiko team will be planning and hosting Brainstorming Sessions- both online and in-person to generate some ideas on what we can do as a community and Curiko when no-shows happen.
We learned that this has happened to everyone! All of us have forgotten to show up when we were supposed to and all of us have been stood up or had someone cancel on us at the last minute. Some shared feelings about this happening were: sadness, anxiety, anger, disappointment, relief, confusion.
